ABANDONED, DECAYING, & FORGOTTEN

These buildings have all been lost, forgotten, and destroyed but still have stories, years of meaning, and loss of purpose behind them. The decaying wood, peeling paint, shattered glass, and graffiti on the walls reveal past moments and a unique personality shaped by the passage of time. These 'buildings' have long since lost their claim to comfort and now play on imagination and fears, with their watching windows and weather-beaten walls. the light and life have long since left these structures. They are now 'monstrosities' and are considered eyesores. I capture the timeless quality of these structures through the use of large format photography. Film doesn't last forever; it deteriorates over time and becomes discarded, much like the derelict buildings that are forgotten. Documenting abandoned buildings in Southern Colorado preserves the fragments of past lives, reviving the beauty of these decaying structures. My photography helps to preserve the memory and history of the aging architecture that now lies in ruin.
